Self care is essential. Whether you’re a mommy-to-be, a new mother, or a mother of older children, it can be easy forget to take care of ourselves. Sometimes life gets so hectic it feels like there’s barely time to breathe! That’s why it’s important for us to set aside a little time every day to breathe, reflect, and practice some self care. Here are some of the best self care tips for moms:


1. Meditate
Even just five minutes spent meditating will make a significant impact. There’s no right or wrong in meditating, so do whatever feels right for you. You can sit and enjoy the silence, you can practice mindfulness, or even lay down and rest your eyes. Just those five minutes will make a positive difference in your day.

2. Go outside
Make an effort to get out of the house! This can seem impossible for those of you who are moms to newborns, but you don’t have to go far! Just take a step outside, maybe a quick walk around the block, to help clear your mind.

3. Treat Yourself
We provide so much for our kids, so don’t forget to provide for yourself as well. A pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing? Buy them! Haven’t had your favorite meal in a while? Order in! Life is too short to deprive yourself!

4. Drink Water
Our bodies are 70% water so there’s a reason why drinking water is so important. Water is vital for our organs, our skin, and our overall health. Hydration is especially important if you’re breastfeeding! Download a water tracker app that will calculate exactly how much water you should drink daily and also remind you throughout the day to have a glass.

5. Don’t Be Hard On Yourself
Motherhood is a beautiful challenge and not every day is going to be a good day. Some days you’ll find yourself questioning how you are as a mother. Remember that there’s no such thing as a perfect mom and that you’re doing the absolute best you can. Your children think the world of you, you should too.
